Archival footage from the KGMB TV collection was recently used in PBS Hawaii’s Long Story Short. Bill Paty, who presided over the Hawaii Constitutional Convention in 1978, talked with Leslie Wilcox on the July 5 episode. The original 16mm film footage of the convention was preserved and digitized as part of the HKG Archives Pilot Project. Don’t worry if you missed the show, it will be re-broadcast on Sunday, July 10 at 4:00 pm.

HI Heather,
What a great project and appropriately honoring your Dad! Helping a third grade class in Koloa compare agriculture over time and remember that a video was made about the closing of the Koloa Mill – McBryde Sugar; Grove Farm’s Mill – in 1996 or 1998. I thought it was a Rice and Roses production but couldn’t find it in their catalogue. Do you have suggestions of how I might find that?
We Blaichs are still here in Kilauea although I super dear husband Gary passed away last thanksgiving of cancer. Mehana, her husband fireman Paki Vaughan, and their two little keiki live nearby. Mehana is finishing a doc degree in interdisciplinary resource management from Stanford. Meleana and her husband Will live in Palolo and she is fashion designer.
i still work for Malama Maha`ulepu on long time community aspiration to conserve that watershed – especially coastal area – the last undeveloped one in Po`ipu/ Koloa.
Much aloha and hope you are very well.
